The following information will serve to understand how the process works, from submission to publication.
Authors, when submitting to IntechOpen journal, will be asked to verify the paper is not considered elsewhere, that the data within it is true and accurate and that all authors are aware of the submission of the work.
Papers, if considered in scope for the title, will be sent to Section Editors handling papers in a relevant field. The Section Editor will determine if a paper will be sent for formal peer review. Peer Review at IntechOpen journals is single-blind and more details on the peer review process can be found here.
Concurrent submissions are not permitted unless an Editor states a paper would be better placed as two separate manuscripts. Duplicate submissions will not be considered.
Manuscripts accepted for publication will be subject to an Article Processing Charge of £850, unless an author is exempt. An invoice for this charge will be issued to the corresponding author after acceptance. Authors can withdraw their manuscripts at this point if they are unable to pay. However, once an invoice has been paid, there will be no refunds in accordance with IntechOpen Policy.
There are no other fees associated with publishing in these journals. During the first year of publishing, there will be significant waivers and discounts on the APC charge. Please see our marketing announcements or contact our editorial office for more details.
For Authors who are unable to obtain funding from their institution or research funding bodies and still need help in covering publication costs, IntechOpen offers the possibility of applying for a waiver.
While providing support and advice to all our international Authors, waiver priority will be given to those Authors who reside in countries that are classified by the World Bank as low-income economies.
Authors interested to contribute their research findings to IntechOpen Journals can also apply for a discretionary discount or waiver provided that they have no available Open Access funding. Requests will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and are expected to be addressed within 10 working days of the application date.
Authors wishing to apply for a waiver must do so upon submitting their article through the ReView submission system. The Corresponding Author submits the application on behalf of all contributors. The waiver decision process is completely independent of the editorial decision process. Should you need more information on how to proceed, please contact the journal editorial office at journals@intechopen.com.
Authors are strongly encouraged to place their work on a preprint server and state this within their submitted manuscript. Submission to a preprint server will not be considered publication in an alternative journal and manuscript with a preprint will be considered for publication.
All authors should list their ORCID number in their manuscript and at point of submission. Please note this is a preference not a requirement for submission.
In line with COPE recommendations regarding the post-publication critique, any comments that facilitate the debate or raise concern about the published content should be addressed through a Letter to the Editor. IntechOpen Journals welcome objective, evidence-based comments that contribute to a scholarly discussion and do not reflect subjective viewpoints nor contain derogatory language. Letters to the Editor are subjected to peer review. If post-publication discussion points to a need for correcting or removing the published content, the critique will be resolved through Correction or Retraction Notice.
